Valentin Louis Georges Eugène Marcel Proust (1871 - 1922) was a French novelist, critic and
essayist best known for In Search of Lost Time. Proust began work on it in 1909 and
continued writing and editing until his death in 1922.
Proust's masterwork In Search of Lost Time is composed of the seven volumes
Swann's Way, In the Shadow of Young Girls in Flower, The Guermantes Way,
Sodom and Gomorrah, The Prisoner, The Fugitive, and Time Regained.
Published in France between 1913 and 1927,
it has had enormous influence on Twentieth Century literature and philosophy.
