Birches and Barbies
Birches and Barbies is a collection of material stories by Kathleen E. Dickhut. Leftovers and left behinds found in the landscape and within human habitats become art and functional objects. One incarnation blends sewn paper sachets with potpourri made from roses grown, harvested and processed in Chicago. For other interpretations, cigar boxes, refrigerator shelves, and vintage silverware display cases are used as “story houses” for natural and cultural artifacts.
